Didn't know this, thx for the info. Its my first time trying to upgrade.
So, before I ticket I should see if its upgradeable? Is it in the fare rules or just when I select the fare?

I'm pretty sure it shows it as you're booking. It's pretty clearly stated. Not need to go searching through the cars conditions.

If I'm not wrong your flight class needs to be W (cheapest flex) and above for upgrade online.

So you can pull at the bar? :D

^ I do not see why not but I was thinking more towards the single seats.

I have it on relatively good authority that only Q L T V fare classes are unable to upgrade before check in Y-J and only O class is unable J-F.

Interesting information. Btw I did not know there was a T fare class. Is that a promo fare or something?

eternaltransit Nov 19, 2014 12:24 pm

T class fares are promotional public fares that are available through some channels on certain destinations - usually travel agents to low yield destinations where pax don't generally book online or direct. They are however, saver fares and can earn miles etc.

For example, T class fares LHR-DXB range from 63-117 USD (in non peak periods), compared to the generally lowest fare you would find on the website which is 141 USD.

V class fares are special fares which are non-public

I have it down as Q, L, T, V, X and G fare classes.

Not sure where I got that, but probably on here.

Considering V is a special fare and X is an economy skywards partner reward, I think the only mystery is H class - which is another non-public fare class, and I would therefore assume, not upgradeable! I'm not sure there is still a G class used by EK?

EDIT: X is sometimes sold as an economy "tactical" fare in some markets (to use the latest parlance) as well as being used by skywards partners - in a similar way to Flex redemptions coming out of W/O class inventory for business/economy cabin redemptions

I posted it once here but I thought it was H i/o G that was ineligible.

Saver U booking class and higher are upgradable anytime.

T, L, V, Q, X and G are only at check in upgradable (G is actually for group fares). Other are promo booking classes. Business class promos (O booking class) are also upgradeable before departure even though it is a promo booking class.
