LAX-DXB is now 17 hr flight instead of 14 hrs?

Because of the Ukrainian situation, Emirates seems to be taking a long detour for flights from LAX to Dubai. (and probably for all other flights from North America to Dubai)....

How long can A380 fly without refueling?

13392 kilometres (shortest route) between LAX and DXB.

A380 range is 15,700 k's:

Wouldn't have thought the flight would cross Ukraine though(?).

The route EK flights take to SFO and LAX typically heads straight north from DXB, flying towards Moscow. Doesn't usually fly over Ukraine.

The DXB-LAX flights is one of the longest in the world at around sixteen and a half hours. It was never 14 hours - I've seen flights to JFK stretch to 13:50 minutes so LAX is going to be much longer. And yes, it does fly towards Moscow rather than Ukraine.

My flight time DXB-LAX has remained the same at 16h15m.

I hope this does not get a minute longer, as this will be 27h of continuous Y with my two (large) friends by my side. Since I am borderline anorexic, they plan on creeping into my space for the flight, which worries me deeply.

Does anyone know what the difference in the planes used on UULH flights is compared to other planes? I know that they feature a crew rest area, but is the seat any different comfort-wise?

None, unfortunately. Except that you are guaranteed to get one of the newer A380s as those are the only ones that can make the trip to LAX....

I am talking about the airborne flight time. The time given in timetable is the time from gate pushback to arriving at destination gate. So the time listed in timetable includes the time taxiing at airport runway.

I've been checking flightaware, the airborne time was usually around 14-15 hours before MH17 incident. In the past few days, the airborne time has been 17hrs-ish, and the flight has been taking a long detour obviously to avoid Ukraine airspace. Ironically, while EK is avoiding Ukraine, it is still flying over other war zones like Syria, Iraq, .... etc.

I was a little surprised that A380 can fly this long without having to refuel. The QF 747 I flew from LAX and MEL had to stop in SYD for refueling on that particular flight cuz it had to take a detour to avoid storm in Pacific ocean.
