best way to get a quick, easy 500 skyward miles?

I mean, I could buy 1000 miles, but not sure if it's worth it to buy 1000 miles if you just need 500 miles.

If you have/need a hotel stay:-

Sign up to IHG (Intercontinental Hotel Group), change earning preference to
Skywards Miles and stay one night. One stay = 500 miles

Otherwise, buy 2,000 miles as already suggested.

Not too difficult to join up and do the initial surveys and get a few skywards miles. Not really worth the effort after that though.

I need to fill a friend's account with 500 more miles to redeem an upgrade. I tried signing up for e-rewards but it doesn't seem to work (there is errors) maybe because my IP shows as a country that doesn't participate or whatever. I'm HK based.

Any other easy way for 500 miles? I'd rather not buy 1,500 more miles than I need and pay 80 USD for that. I also have 720 Starwood points so I could use 500 to transfer 500 EK miles, but then there's a 2,500 points minimum transfer as I'm not a Platinum...argh!

So, anyone have another clue? For car rental/hotel, would it matter if the receiving EK account number and name are different from my own?

Here in the UK, 2,000 miles may be purchased for £39 GB at the moment (approx $60 US), or transferred for £32 ($50).

There may be a further discount if you use a Skywards Credit Card for the purchase, although that may be taken care of in the price above, I'm not sure.

The £39 price for 2k miles is only for those holding the EK MBNA AMEX

E-rewards dropped Skywards points as an earning possibility about 10 days ago.

It's still appearing on my account as an option, and it's almost time for me to redeem. Where did you hear it had been dropped?

This is part of an email I got from them on June 2nd. I also noticed that skywards miles were still listed as an option after that, so I emailed e-rewards asking when they'd cease being an option, but never heard back. It might be the end of the month, so suggest you redeem quickly, as I will.

"As an e-Rewards(R) Member who joined us through Emirates Airlines, we wanted to notify you that Emirates Airlines has chosen to no longer make Skywards Miles available as a Reward option."

Makes it all the more pressing of a question what are alternative ways to get a quick and easy 500 EK miles. Anyone here with the golden answer? :)

Thanks so much in advance.

....if you don't have a flexible points currency...? My Amex is Cathay branded. Unfortunately no card in HK transfers to EK and I am not able to get my hands on a US issued card. Else I would have done that already...
