Double fees on an award booking?

Maybe Iīve missed something, but Iīm seeing some "weird" taxes and fees on an award I am trying to book

I created an itinerary and emailed it to myself on the 30th of April:

CPH - DXB in J
DXB - LGW in F

2 Passengers, Multiple class
225000 Miles
DKK 604.00
DKK 3920.00
Total DKK 3920.00

But today I am seeing very different numbers:

2 Passengers, Multiple class
225000 Miles
DKK 604.00
DKK 7616.00
Total DKK 8220.00

Does anyone know if this was a glitch or if the fees have doubled?

Looks like the carrier surcharges are DKK 3808.00 per person just doing a dummy booking; then there are genuine taxes on top of that

Given that the Carrier surcharges for
CPH-DXB are DKK1904 or 31,778 miles in business class, and
DXB-LGW are AED1250 ( approx DKK1860 ) in 1st class , then would expect the surcharges to be of order of DKK3764, so DKK3808 looks reasonable

Comparing the Surcharges for CPH-DXB against LGW-DXB , the surcharges on LGW-DXB in business class are GBP219 which is GBP11 more than the CPH-DXB rate , so I don't see a reason to believe that it is a glitch

The taxes have remained unchanged, but the surcharges have changed. Perhaps EK has only just introduced surcharges on CPH-DXB and before you were just being charged surcharges on 1 of the sectors

Yep... As I thought!

I just spoke to EK - Itīs the infamous surcharge that they started to implement on the 15th of April

Thatīll teach me!

Nothing to see here, move along

Perhaps better just to spend the surcharge componant on paying for a direct flight to london and save the 225,000 miles
