Double bumps
EK points may be redeemed for one cabin upgrade bumps.
Is it possible to use points for a double bump? |

doubles
Excellent - I infer from your response that it might be possible, sometimes, to upgrade using points before the flight, and then upgrade again at check -in, or else onboard, once again.
Let me know if I have that wrong. |
Double bumps
As has been mentioned in a previous thread it is possible to do a double upgrade with points on board. Ie Y-F, I have done it myself. Some say it depends o the discretion of the purser.

You can also use miles to get a reward seat with miles/companion reward schemes etc and upgrade it with miles again (if availability in the higher class cabin opens up later).
I managed to get a saver J reward for mrsukdoctor (using my EK MBNA Card) using the companion reward offer. Managed to use my miles to upgrade both our tickets to F. I had to pay taxes and fees for her ticket But 600 odd pounds for a London Dubai return in J is not bad;) |

Let me know if I have that wrong. You cannot upgrade prior to check in, then at check in. Their systems won't allow it. Similarly, you cannot upgrade a redemption ticket at check in. Can only happen once on board. |

Slight correction there, upgrade only once including at check in (I merely mentioned that because of the fare structures nowadays). Then once on board, upgrade again.

Although do be aware (if not already) of the necessary status criteria for on-board mileage upgrades where space allows - as per recent discussion on the thread "Your Skywards questions answered" - see post 794 dated 14 May by ukdoctor
