Might as well be, if you are Gold as LHR seems to be status heavy.

Always possible I guess ; but based on pecking order, so you would need to be Skywards Gold or above ......

Oh well the joys of flying on a busy Emirates flight in economy at least my seat is 47c which is in the first cabin and I do get to travel back in J..only hope that they dont try and bounce me off the flight. However, if I check in online 24 hours before and turn up at the airport early hopefully I will be ok...

Yes, go to the airport early, drop your bags, collect your BP and you should be fine....

So looking forward to a week's holiday in India....and thank you very much for your help, much appreciated.

I daresay a lot can happen in a week re loads etc...so can I ask for an update later this week?

Thank you, I tried to look on Flightstats but it said that the whole plane was sold out and so I posted here to just confirm it and was given slightly different info.

ExpertFlyer is only $5 for a month... and you can try if for free for 5 days.

and neither are accurate only a rough guide.

EK will show availability because they oversell. If they show less than 5 Y seats you can bet its probably overbooked.

Should be a fun flight then....absolutely rammed and service sorely lacking....

But if you're really worried, maybe take a few quick hops on Ryanair just before your upcoming trip, and I imagine Emirates even in Y will then seem positively splendiferous by comparison.

I'm sure you'll survive perfectly ok in the back of the bus, and hope you have a great holiday in India ^

Thank you and I am very much looking forward to it, its just that people so rarely say the cabin crew do a marvellous job under pressure and when they comment it is always how dreadful the service and how poor the food is etc.etc. We are always far to keen to criticise rather than to applaud!
