Headphones in Y
 
Hi,
I'm sure this has been asked before, but can't find anything.
Does anyone know if we can use our own one pin headphones in Y.
I know EK system is 2 pin so doubt a one pin would work properly?
If not does anyone know where I can buy a two pin adaptor in the UK please?

As you correctly said, emirates Y is indeed 2 pin. From what I've experienced, plugging your 1 pin headphone results in sound coming into just one side of your headphones.

You can also be ripped off at the airport shops where they sell those adaptors for an outrageous 5-10 GBP.

The newest ICE systems (tablet style) in Y with 2 pins will work when you put in your 1 pin jack and actually will have sound coming from both sides of your earphones/headphones although it will only be from the one channel.

In the older systems it's advisable to use a 2 pin adapter.

Its not the same set of planes that keep doing a route. Depending on the configuration of the aircraft servicing that route on a particular day, you may get an aircraft with the tablet style ICE. Here is some information from the EK Source showing the air crafts servicing IAH-DXB for February.
