Does anyone know if this mean that flights will be cancelled?

Yes - they were announced a long time ago. Some destinations have multiple frequencies will be reduced.

I assume that this has been planned for and that schedules were adjusted well in advance.

If anything, the availability of so many more replacement aircraft might mean fewer last minute cancellations.

The leaked letter discussing this early last year reckoned Emirates and flydubai would drop around 22% of their combined operations.

I know this will not equate 1:1 to aircraft, but to only have 10% out of service sounds quite good for EK.

Glasgow/Dubai is being reduced from twice to once daily, but the interesting thing is the usual 777 service will be replaced by an A380 ! First time for a Scottish airport, one for the plane spotters amongst us :)

Now does the grounding of 19-20 aircraft include the wing fix of 4 SJ. If yes then we're really looking at 15-16 aircraft actually being grounded.

There was originally talk of the Glasgow service going to once daily but this isn't happening anymore. It's sticking on twice daily.

The day of the A380 flight also has the evening service as normal.


It was actually removed from the timetable/booking engine for a while before being reinstated.

Have EK flights booked for 2 DXB/HKG for 23rd May any change there?.

EK386/387 is cancelled for the duration of the works.

so at this point is it safe to say all the schedules on EK's website already reflect the cancellations?
