Status match??

Hi all,

Has anybody ever heard of EK matching status of QR elites?

As I will re-qualify for Platinum on QR this month, meaning until Oct. 2015, I have been thinking to give my business for the next year to EK (approx. 12-15 long haul RT in paid J), but don't really want to start at the bottom, ie losing the extra miles etc.....

Any ideas if EK is doing this/any experience or suggestions here?

Thanks!!

I dont see much point if you will fly only j. You will soon be gold and plat possible with that much travel.

Gold is only useful when travelling in y

Some googling tells me you won't get it. I tried it the other way round last moth (Skywards Gold to Qatar) and was denied.

As m3red pointed out, Gold won't do much if you're in J, except even more luggage.

If your trips are long hauls (ie Western Europe to Far East) you'll hit gold in 2 trips if mot before in paid J, so within 6 month you'll get platinum and get FCL access.

If you look on StatusMatcher.com you will get an idea on what status matches
have been successful.

The OP seems interested in getting the 50% (Gold) or 75% (Plat) extra Skywards miles, which he/she won't unless he/she can get a status match.

Hi all, I am in a similar situation to the OP. Been flying a lot recently from the Far East to London in Y class only. Currently hold *G status, was wondering if EK would match this to EK Gold? I already have upcoming bookings with EK (in Y). What would the process be for status match?

Thanks

Write to the local ek office with details of the bookings and ask nicely.

I wouldn't hold your breath! There are already far too many golds...

Far too many. They should set a new threshold at 100k and bump all others down to Silver.

:D

I think 75k would be better. I think there are a lot who hit 50...my op up rate since I've gone past 70k tier miles is good!

I know you think 75k is better. I was teasing you, as you're advocating for thresholds tweaked to match your travel profile :)

They won't do it. They cannot differentiate. Move on lol.

I understand they do between tier miles as golds.

I tried this (except my upcoming EK bookings were in J) and my local office didn't even bother to reply to my request. :td:

EY are offering to status match my *G to EY Gold so I think I'm going to start using them for my HKG-LHR flights instead of EK.

I don't believe EY fly to HKG quite yet, and instead the flight is operated by an Air Seychelles A330. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm under the impression that the hard product in J isn't quite the same as EY.

Not sure whether going to EY would even be worth it, but maybe you're not too bothered for half the trip.
