Maybe just bad luck, but I was on a two class a few weeks ago and a colleague flew on a two class last Sunday evening.

Stewardess told me it was probably down to high loads in Y, and the opportunity to sell around 70/80 more Y tickets.

Eeeek, don't tell me that! i am booked in F in March GLA-KUL will be very, very upset if they change to a 2 class plane. :( What would be worse was the A380 change from DXB -KUL as i specifically chose that flight.

We were up-graded both ways GLA-DXB last week due to heavy load in Y but it was a 3 class flight :D

This issue of substituting a 3 class for a 2 class affects those who paid for J. LGW has frequent swaps like this . I'm not bothered about EK overselling a 3 class aircraft . What happens is that some Y pax with status get op upped to the J cabin. The same happens to the J pax with status who are moved to F.

In case of a 2 class the J cabin gets choked due to a whole load of Y pax being pushed into J .On my last flight almost the entire J cabin was full of op ups.
( How do I know?? Well their hand baggage had the green EK tag!). I didnt get my choice of meal as a result.

You can always argue that I got what I paid for (a J cabin) but Op ups should not affect the revenue pax. I have to admit that I also have been op upped several times and I am grateful to EK for that. However the crew should still give the first choice to the revenue pax.

not great value, as it is cheaper to buy tickets. But you can use miles to purchase football matches i.e. arsenal for about 5,000 miles.

Hey all, I have 1900 skywards miles left and all of them are set to expire in 4 days...is there anything I can do with them? I tried looking through the emirates website and even donation requires a minimum of 5000 miles. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Transfer them to someone else?

I was wondering how the process of upgrading works? If we want to both upgrade from J to F and one of manages an upgrade; what happens if the other can't get it? Is there a way of seeing if it is available for both before committing?

I've got slightly more miles than my wife after spending different amounts before they expired. Can I transfer some to her to equalise them before we try for the upgrade?

As ever, thanks in advance for any advice.:)

J-F upgrades come from the 'Z' bucket so either check for Z inventory or simply call the EK call center to confirm.

Just remind me how you check the 'Z' bucket list - from Manage a Booking or elsewhere?;) We both had emails to say we have another 4,000 miles expiring at end of November so would be nice to get an upgrade using these because we're both now just over 60K SM's.

You can check using ExpertFlyer.com (paid service) or try to book a First Class reward trip on the same flights and look for saver rather than flex award availability. If there are saver awards available then that is Z inventory.
