Overbooking....

Every flight (well a lot of them) this week are sold out.

Does anyone know by how many seats ek over sells? If you search by schedule and it states unavailable by how many seats do they oversell by?

One would assume they would continue to sell revenue j and f if y is unavailable rather than stopping to sell those because they will need to upgrade people on the day.

I think a lot of pax will be bumped this week.

I finished work early in Qatar yesterday, and tried to get ANY flight back earlier than tonight (tomorrow's) 03.00 back to Manchester. There was one seat in F on the lunchtime flight available, everything else booked solid.

It's Hajj right now, so a lot of pilgrims going to Mecca, and Eid starts here in Qatar on Sunday.

Speak for yourselves, I'll be spending the next six hours in a half empty Y cabin to DXB. It's been a while since I've been down the back on EK, but 42500 miles for 6 hours is not worth it, especially when Y is half empty.

Well, I was offered to pay 32,500 from J to F on the Manc flight, but holding out for an op up, as I'm only going to sleep all the way back anyway, so a 777 flat bed or suite really makes not a lot of difference.

EK 408 (DXB-KUL) seems to be very fulll in all classes. I wonder how overbooked are they.

However, one my flight out from EBB, Y is half empty/full today.

Of course, it probably also follows that DXB tonight will be a zoo !

Good choice - I got an F op up on an overnight once and yes, I slept a bit better (but was very tired anyway, and had a few drinks in the lounge) but other than a better breakfast there's not a whole lot in the difference.

Doha Oryx lounge is, never seen so many unluly kids, or badly behaved Brits with their feet up on the tables etc. Where DID all the manners go ?

Not sure about the number of seats EK oversells, but I've seen 40+ op-ups Y-J on the A380.

Wow which route? I guess that's the luxury of having 72 j seats....

My friend went to Seattle and y was oversold by 20...I wonder how far they go and if they stop selling biz first tickets to accommodate the op ups or not.

Actually 76 J seats. JFK just before the back to school. But I would count this as a one off...

Two half empty Y cabins for me earlier this week. They blocked out a centre section of 4 seats for me on both which made it quite acceptable.

In Dubai now and the lounge is DESERTED, no more than a dozen people end to end, and the terminal is empty too. The lull before the storm ?

Probably the Eid travellers are already through. If they are still travelling now, they'll probably have a hard time reaching Mecca by Eid and do all their rituals.
