Io "renewal"?

Am coming up to the end of first 2 year period and wondered if any io on here has been renewed? What happened? Was it as out of the blue as first time round or did they give you notice? Thanks in advance

Ooooh. You must be anxious.

Do keep us posted on how it goes - would be interesting to know how EK handles this 'tricky' situation.

When Hyatt "ditched" me from courtesy card to diamond I took it like a man so not overly anxious

Well said. Given that there are no published criteria for qualification, let alone re-qualification your guess is probably as good as most of ours. There may be someone on the board that knows so let's wait and see ... Aquitania?

Wonder if its a soft landing to Platinum ?

Adiazlaureate Oct 10, 2013 2:46 pm

Good question but probably we won't know from my case as would be well over minimum for platinum anyway.

I'm courious as well. Several crew have told me IO doesn't depend purely on miles. There are apparently IOs that fly very little. But they may own/manage companies that fly a lot, be related to someone called al Maktoum or other, unknown things. It's all a bit murky.

Perhaps FTer chinatraderjmr can shed some light.

It's nothing to do with the amount you fly it's who you are and your spend on ek so mainly senior execs of big businesses and other VIPs

Adiazlaureate Oct 12, 2013 3:03 am

I'm certainly not a VIP nor someone who has budgetary influence on who our very small office team in Dubai fly with so don't think that's right

Do you have any more or less substantiated theories why you became IO?

Adiazlaureate Oct 12, 2013 4:48 am

Nope.i assumed it was spend. 50 round trips a year or so.mostly medium/long haul 80/20 biz/f so I guess around $250k spend. But like everyone else I dont really know.

You will be io based on that spend. I was told circa 300 but 250 is a fair wack so you are valuable to ek.
