Business Class to First Class Upgrades

If I were to book a return business class seat (skyward saver fare) from LHR to DBX and upgrade (upgrades are available for flights dated 5/5/14 to 12/5/14), will the skyward miles be awarded for first class (21,000) or business class (7,000) travel?

Miles are awarded for your original class of ticketing and no the upgrade - so you would earn Business Class miles.

But are there any airlines out there that award miles on a redemption? Save for BMI back in the days (and on Star Alliance redemptions via retro claims), it is not possible.

I always pondered why airlines do not award tier miles on redemptions though. It's not like redeeming miles is constrained to the particular airline to say the passenger would be trying to profiteer from the process. It would be some form of recognition which gives loyal customers even more incentive to stick with the airline for future flights, and, burn miles.
