Upgrade with miles long time ahead
 

After having booked a ticket nearly a year ahead to Brazil (World Cup 2014), I wanted to upgrade for such a long flight. I was aware that the probability of having Upgrade available now is very low.

But I was quite sure that the 2 seats allocated for gold members would be available.
So I have phoned to an agent who was aware of this special inventory, but she told me or that the two seats have already been booked or not yet released.

Does someone know when those two seats usually are released?

Certain SAVER fares are now only available for upgrade 24 hours before departure. I understand it's not all Saver fares and I've noticed while booking recently that it's clearly marked when it's the case (you need to be logged in).

If/when the two seats are released is another question. Recommend using expertflyer.com's alert function.

how can one recognise such two seats (for golds) on expert flyer?
(special booking code?)

I was just referring to general upgrade inventory - apologies for any confusion.

This is such trade-craft that few outside of the regulars on the forums are even aware of it, EF included (please EF, don't come behind me with a rod). Getting hold of these 2 seats is a completely different matter altogether though.
