Is Emirates part of Skyteam, OneWorld, or StarAlliance?

I am going to be flying on Emirates soon, and would like to earn points with an American carrier in one of the 3 global alliances.

Whats the best way to do that?

I see the Emirates is part of some agreement with JetBlue?

No, it's not part of any alliance. A check of the web site will reveal that you can earn miles on Alaska or jetBlue flying on Emirates.

thank you!

For some reason, i thought they were also StarAlliance

Its a question that gets asked many times. But if you hang around this forum long enough you will soon learn that EK doesn't really play well with others ;)

I do not believe EK will ever join one of the 3 major alliances - too much arm waving by other members if they did...

No, they are not going considering to join the alliance. I just don't think ever it happening anytime soon.

UA and EK were partners 'till a couple of years ago.
I believe that's what you were thinking.

And it was UA who called off the partnership, not EK.

I *HOPE* they join *A.

Should never say never, but I highly doubt it. LH and UA would be very strong opponents to EK joining (its public knowledge within the industry that LH senior management "despise" EK and EK's success)

I think you'll see more of the big deal partnerships - rather than Alliances and if you look back and hear some of Tim Clarks comments on Alliances, you can see and hear that he's no fan of them. Wont be happening on his watch...

I agree as well. They will never joins the alliance in a distant future. There's no way to join any Alliance. Because they are independently. They doesn't want to join the alliance. This is not a options. Alliance is out of questions.

Right. With EK having grown so big, I doubt if they need an alliance. What EK will look to pick up are 'partners', who can feed them 'regional' traffic for their long haul routes. That is what they are aiming for. Or maybe, they will create an entirely 'new' alliance of which they are the founding member.
