14000 EK miles.

My mother has 14000 Skywards miles in her account, she does not travel EK anymore.
Any ideas what can be done with these orphaned miles.

How about buying the requisite number of miles and then use them for an upgrade when you fly at some point before they expire? That's what I did in the past with my mum's 16,500 miles - topped them up to 25,000 and used them to go J to F on a trip to Lagos from DXB.

Thanks for the reply, I thought about that but my mother`s only travel is between LAX-BOM. The miles required to upgrade is 60k.
Also since last 2 years she is not travelling as she is sick.
Thanks.

You can use the points on your flights if you buy some more miles on her account.

Just note that you can upgrade only one sector e.g. DXB-BOM is 12,500 on Flex ticket and 16000 on Saver ticket.

also you can upgrade your flight.

Or look at http://www.emirateshighstreet.com/ if there is something you would like to have. But you will need to pay for delivery..and it's not the best way to use miles.

If you are in LAX you can also try to spent miles on Alaska Airlines.

You can transfer to someone .. but transfer would cost 1k miles for 25USD
