Platinum Partner Nomination
I havent been home yet to pick up my card and Plat kit so I apologise if people already have the details, but I haven't seen anything yet from EK/Skywards on how you nominate your "preferred person" for their Gold status. I cant seem to see anything on the site either...

Platinum Partner Nomination
There weren't any instructions in the kit either.

When they called me to check my address (even though they had already sent it and I got it literally 5 minutes later) they told me about this benefit so I immediately gave the lady who I was speaking with the Skywards number of my nominee and it was done and reflected on line in 48 hours.

I called Skywards over the weekend and nominated my wife as a gold card member.
Gave her skywards number, and in less than a minute her status changed to gold. This was reflected online immediately too. Honestly, it was the easiest thing I have done with skywards...kudos to them.. |
Called Emirates on Wednesday to nominate my wife & they confirmed all the details.
However, still not updated online. Right, time to call again! |
I'm perfectly willing to accept a nomination if it will help things along :)
PM me for my Skywards number. :D |

I just did the same but it seems strange that no mention of how to do this is written anywhere on the site. You can be sure that 95% of Platinums wont have even thought about it, nor would have the energy to call up Skywards and request it. Have to say though, it was painless, took all of 5 minutes and the profile updated immediately.

Whats it worth??
My wife is crew and has absolutely no use for a Skywards card.
No lounge access on crew tickets, no perks. |

I would say that crew tickets is a pretty good perk all on its own.
Crew tickets : NON upgradeable, NO lounge access, the cheaper tickets are waitlisted. Best of both worlds "Platinum & Crew tickets" PS if i dont find a good nominee for the Gold card I will surely post it here. |
I wonder how would it work if someone is already Gold but say nearing the end of their qualification year, does it renew from expiry or from the date of nomination?

Seems unfair that crew cannot use the benefits of Gold. I realise that free flights are seen as some as perks, however, I would think it is factored into their wages. Therefore, IMO, if a Plat nominates someone for Gold, then that person should be entitled to the benefits. Why would that be any different to any other nominee?

I would assume so on a 'normal' ticket but not on a 'crew' ticket.
But it would seem not. If I was CC and my husband gave someone other than me a Gold nomination and subsequently I could not get access to the benefits, I would be saying "Dash":) Just love to see it.. Wonder if it is highlighted in the T's and C's that if they are cabin crew you cannot nominate your dearly beloved...... Give them a break! |
