MAN-DXB on A380 - Flex only?

I'm trying to book a business class return to Bangkok in June. No matter what dates I choose, the A380 flight from MAN (EK18) will only price as a Flex fare, which adds around £500 to the costs.

Is this usual, or something that will sort itself out given time?

Looking at ExpertFlyer, there doesn't seem to be any difference in the availability buckets for the other flights on the days I am looking at :-

EK22 - P2 A2 J4 C4 I4 O7 Y7 E7 R7 W7 M7 B7 U7 K7 H7 Q7 L7 T7 V7 X7
EK18 - P2 A2 J4 C4 I4 O7 Y7 E7 R7 W7 M7 B7 U7 K7 H7 Q7 L7 T7 V7 X7
EK20 - P2 A2 J4 C4 I4 O7 Y7 E7 R7 W7 M7 B7 U0 K0 H0 Q0 L0 T0 V0 X0

Both EK22 and EK20 price up reasonable.

Maybe they're trying to discourage the riff-raff that plague the bar on this flight :)

Cheers.

I have had this when booking flights to OZ. Suddenly only Flex fares are available.

However, on each occasion Saver fares have been released eventually, the timing of such release seemingly being pretty random..

You just have to keep checking as I am sure you will.

The flight restrictions will likely be the reason

Looking on EF at the fares MAN-DXB r/t for april , the O1MAPGB1 fare has the flight restriction in rules that states

Code:

IF THE FARE COMPONENT INCLUDES TRAVEL BETWEEN UNITED
    KINGDOM AND DXB
THEN THAT TRAVEL MUST BE ON
ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING
            EK FLIGHT 0022
ANY EK FLIGHT OPERATED BY QF.

and the I1EAXGB1

Code:

IF THE FARE COMPONENT INCLUDES TRAVEL BETWEEN UNITED
    KINGDOM AND DXB
THEN THAT TRAVEL MUST BE ON
ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING
            EK FLIGHT 0022
            EK FLIGHT 0020.

The next fare up ( IEEAXGB1 ) is valid on all EK flights and so would seem to be the 1st one that is valid for business class travel on EK18

As far as "flex" vs "saver" only the O class is saver, both the I fare that is EK22/20 only and the fare that allows all EK flights are flex fares

Thanks for that. That would explain it.

Funnily enough, if I price up the MAN-DXB flights on the QF codeshare, it prices out at around the Saver fare.
