Nudity on EK!

Thought that would get your attention...

Anyway, the Movie thread on the BA forum reminded me, when did EK stop censoring their movies? I can remember the likes of Bruce Willis calling people a 'mother flower' in action movies, which always made me smile. And the steamy scenes were always cut or at least edited so you couldn't see anything.

I watched Looper on my last flight, and there was a good minute or so of boobage on show. I actually felt quite embarrassed (not really) as my better half nudged and pointed it out.

So, is it anything goes these days?

:-)

I was on a DL flight (AMS-MSP) and watched "Caddy Shack" which has nudity, they didn't edit it out, I was surprised! They also have "Black Swan" and it is heavily edited.....

father_ted Feb 20, 2013 3:38 pm

Dialogue was heavily edited as of a month or two ago... I attempted to watch some film with Adam Sandler in it... It probably was a poor movie to start with, but the dubbing of words much less offensive than 'flower' to take the earlier example were so frequent and poorly executed that I abandoned the attempt ten minutes in.

BA tend to show uncensored versions, but EK has always been cut in the past.

EK edited the peeing sound out of this scene so it makes no sense

Maybe because hearing water running makes you want to go to the bathroom and they didn't want to create a line to the bathroom????

gorbatzjov Feb 21, 2013 12:57 pm

Maybe off topic, but I just flew back today and was watching several episodes of Californication on my iPad. No-one looked disturbed (and even if they would... common what's the problem with a boob here and there. Half the population has them!)

I was on a train to London last year, and there was a guy watching hard core porn... at 7am.

Even I was shocked

Some time back, actually quite a while back, I did watch Chloe (the 2009 remake) on an SQ flight. Did not know what the movie was about before starting to watch it but it was definitely uncensored and, given I was in Y on an aisle seat so half of the plane saw what I was watching, quite embarrassing.

Quickly adds Chloe to my list of movies to watch...

About 2 years ago I was sitting in 2K on the A380. When my suite doors were open I had a pretty good view of what the guy in 1F was watching when his doors were open. I glanced over once and on his screen was a full blown sex scene, and you could clearly see the women's breasts jiggling as the man was... well I don't think I don't think I need to go any further then that. At first I thought he watching something on his hard drive, but at the top of the screen it said EMIRATES in big letter like it sometimes does when watching something on ICE. I was pretty surprised as I thought they would censor something like that.
On another occasion, about a year ago I was watching the latest Scream horror movie again on EK, and they showed the woman changing, and showed her bare breasts. But that's all. I definitely wasnt as surprised then as I was on the other occasion!
Anyway I guess EK doesn't censor all movies, but I haven't seen anything else like this recently so maybe they have started to censor movies.

Correction ALL the population has them, even some animals, where the difference lies, is some are more pronounced than others. ;)

tezzer Feb 24, 2013 3:23 am

Always found the censored version of Blazing Saddles disspoining on EK, ALL of the funny bits had been cut, it's twue, it's twue !

678flyer Feb 24, 2013 3:31 am

Putting in a reminder to watch Looper tomorrow :D:p

FlyerTalker688786 Feb 24, 2013 4:45 am

Why people would get embarrassed with someone watching the scenery which is quite natural among animals and human beings?

Because they could not perform the same?@:-)

jozdemir Feb 24, 2013 5:36 am

I'm not a prude by any means but I do feel a little uncomfortable for the other people around me watching something on the IFE or on my personal laptop that might not be another persons cup of tea.

However I recently discovered that TK have started heavily censoring their IFE and some of it is quite amusing when you know the movie

What a stupid comment.
Do remember that maybe half the pax are female and that a lot of them would be offended if you watched porn if sat next to them - well I for one would be if you sat next to me God forbid.

I wouldn't... But then I would embarrass him by asking him if could do all those moves.. An if he could measure up to the man... I would look him straight in the eye.. Porn is for both sexes. He'd better be well endowed honey. And as satisfying as the man he is watching.

philduck Feb 24, 2013 1:21 pm

Nudity?

It isn't nudity. It is Art!

I've been known to do *both* positions!

Anyway, I sense a mod with his finger on the 'Close Thread' button... :p

Nudity on EK!

Saw my neighbour happily devouring a multiple nude shot movie in QR J-class flight also and was very surprised also. Ended up watching his screen more than mine ;)

Along with the OP's photo. :p

I missed Prometheus at the cinema and hadn't seen it before watching it on my KUL - DXB on Friday evening. I was utterly surprised to see the entire emergency cesarean section scene and the popping out of the baby alien scene going uncensored, including the laser cutting open of the lady's stomach!

He was on my flight once, nice guy, but short.

On a recent long flight (not with EK) I decided to watch – or more accurately rewatch, as I'd seen it once before – Love Actually, and three things struck me:
1. The amount of cutting, even though this was released with a non-restrictive 'M' rating
2. The number of scenes which had been reshot with different and more 'mild' dialogue
3. That the whole movie still hung together quite well, despite the cuts, due to its episodic nature.

As one would imagine, the entire storyline between Martin Freeman and the young blonde girl, who meet as stand-ins on a porn movie set, was removed. Which means every instance of them was gone. But because of how the movie is structured, there was no way you'd notice anything missing (in fact my girlfriend saw this 'edited' version some years back and had no idea this extra plotline even existed).

But the scene where the young bloke who's setting off to visit America opens his suitcase to reveal a pile of condoms? Cut. The ending with Bill Nighy and his 'fat manager'? Bill suggests they "get drunk and watch TV all night" (not "get drunk and watch porn", which I admit still does sound a bit odd to me!). Quite a few others struck me as I was watching - a scene would end and I'd think "Hang on, wasn't there some other bit..?".

I prefer to 'BYO entertainment' when I fly, loading up my MacBook or iPad with downloaded shows, but quickly learned that Game of Thrones can push the envelope of seatmate acceptability!

With great sadness, I am reporting that Looper, or at least the version shown on EK 007 today, had the interesting portions pixelated / blurred out.

I blame DYKWIA for alerting EK with his post :p

Booo.... it was all there in December.

DYKWIA Feb 26, 2013 5:15 am

Thinking of Clooney.... I remember watching 'The American' on my iPad on an Easyjet flight a couple of years ago. That has some 'interesting' scenes that weren't really appropriate for watching in public.

I like the "special" chair he builds in "Burn after Reading"... Haven't watched it on a flight so don't know if it survived the censor's knife.

No looper nor Ted , but Hitchcock...

Stand to be corrected... looper is here.

But they have masked all the racy words in a french movie.
