Middle row
Checked in for EK28 today and have a whole middle row to myself. Fancy a lie down, but is there anyway I can ensure that nobody else sits in that row by changing seats. The only way I can think of doing it is by lying down as soon as I get on the aircraft but that may attract some funny looks.
|
I had a row of 4 and what I did was I sat in seat 2 then put my bag, ipad, coat and anything else I had across seat 3 & 4 and as soon as the seat belt sign went off I put the armrests up and laid down. I needed the loo but I thought I'd best not move until everyone had swopped and changed then when I went to the loo I just put my stuff up on the seats.
you snooze .... you lose!! Enjoy Jo |
A bit of rouge on the cheeks and nose, sway a bit and a chorus of I Belong To Glasgow should do the trick ;). Taking EK 26 in a couple of weeks connecting with 406 so hoping for an early arrival so that I can sample the new lounge.
|
Don't sit on the aisle seat, but the inner seat and as the above poster said... just put your jacket, blanket and a newspaper on the other seats. Normally works on the EK28 for me as the last 3 times ive taken it - its been empty (the last cabin always has seats empty).
@albaonthego - new EK lounge at Glasgow? Damn, missed that one entirely. Any dates been announced? |
Oops sorry for raising your hopes, I wish! Meant new lounge at DXB. Only got an hour fifty for the connection and if we come in at a remote stand that may not give a lot of time to enjoy the new facilities assuming my A380 leaves from an A gate.

I am 21D and that cabin is looking a bit busy althoigh up the back is looking empty. Trying not to get on the situation where I someone moves to MY ROW :D and I have then left ot too late to snaffle a row up the nack.
Was in the situation on EK27 once when I thought I had managed to gtab a middle row when an oil worket who had been in the desert in Saudi for 6 weeks spotted the other two seaats (I was in one of the middle seats trying to take up room) moved and then proceeded to get rat arsed and decided he was gods gift to the female FAs. As the flught went on he got louder until they cut his drinks off by sayimg there was none left which also meant I then couldnt have any alchol as he would have seen it. |

The trick with the EK28, always, is to book the last seat in the last cabin as they tend to fill the first cabins first (for those who haven't chosen their seats online / over the phone). Nevertheless, you can still just walk back to the last cabin and take a seat anywhere ;) |
I was going upgrade with miles but hate paying the 81 quid tax  81 quid to Cameron and his cronies for them not to spend it on anything to do with flying or improving airports ext.

Why don't u do an on board upgrade?
It's a long time since I looked into it, but seeing as APD is supposed to apply to the 'journey as a whole' then wouldn't the higher rate apply on an economy ticket LHR-DXB-SIN when the DXB-SIN leg is upgraded even when the passenger is in DXB? |
Managed to keep the whole row, boarded early and spread stuff out then got on the phone for a random chat just to look busy. The flight was only half full (150 pax I think someone said) and I dont think anybody had someone next to them unless they were flying together. All in all a pleasant flight, got to lie down saved my miles and didnt pay the APD :).
I normally only do on board upgrades as a last resort due to them costing more miles and usually it has to do with what the person sitting next to me is like i.e. fat, smelly, drunk etc. Pretty sure they dont charge APD when you do an onboard upgrade though as it may be in the just to hard to sort out basket but if I am wrong someone will be along to let me know it. 9 hour connect in DXB and my BP says lounge closest to your gate but gate not showing yet so sat in good old T3 lounge. |
