Long Layover

Hello,

Can anyone tell me what is the minimum layover one needs to avail of the hotel facility for free/food vouchers?

I'm currently thinking of booking one with a 8;45 minute layover on the way and 7:30 on the way back.

The trip will be DEL-DXB-JFK (round trip). I'm mainly flying it for the A380.

Thanks,
Crazysah

Economy Class passengers with a connection time until the first available flight of more than eight hours and less than 24 hours upon arrival in Dubai, and who have qualifying tickets

If you tell us the flight times you're thinking about travelling on and class of travel we can help you out.

Im thinking of taking BHX - DXB - ISB on 15 March at 20.30.

There's a 14 hour layover in DXB, and no reference to Dubai Connect, so i take it i am stuck in the terminal foyer?

I would say you do qualify as I can't see a shorter connection. It doesn't always appear on the booking screen (I think this is quite a recent development so maybe not fully working). It could be your booking class doesn't qualify, but give them a call and request it.

Let us know how youi get on.

Well i spoke to them and they said that, unless my ticket costs more than £682 i don't qualify.

It is not only on the length of the stay, which must be over 8 hours i believe, but also a more expensive ticket.

My ticket is coming in at £669, so oddly i am £13 short and do not qualify. I would happily pay the difference....

I've never heard of a price limit being put on it before but it is mentioned on the website now, along with the date the flight being booked being a factor.

It's previously been reported that it's only applicable on certain booking classes but this information was removed from the web site a while ago. Can you tell us what booking class you are booked into?

economy class

Economy is divided into different fare booking classes as in Y, E, R, W, B, M, Q etc.

you can tell from your eticket the class your booked into. Example:

MEL EK X/DXB EK LON505.05WEFTPAU4EK X/DXB EK MEL505.05WEFTPAU4 NUC1010.10 XT AUD26.10WY AU89.00GB AUD43.90UB END ROE1.424648

The bolded "W" indicates both the outbound and inbound on this itinerary are in fare class "W".

I haven't bought this ticket yet, so does that mean i should ask for the next economy class up to fall within the dubai connect offer?

My itinerary is:

15 Mar 20.30 BHX - DXB - ISB 14hr stopover
1 April 09.00 ISB - DXB
4 April 15.05 DXB - BHX

You can do as you say although I don't know if they can force this if bot seats are still bookable as SAvers.

Alternatively, do a dummy booking and force it to give you Flex fares. It'll be more expensive (by a lot more than £13) and should come up during the booking process whether or not it qualifies.

However, I've just tried it and it doesn't appear to.

What you could do is call and ask about that specific itinerary, or book it and choose Bank Transfer as a payment option. Then you can call and if they say no just don't complete the payment and the booking will be cancelled.

Well the next class up was about £150 more expensive than the price i was getting.

As such, i've decided to stick with the cheaper price and put the money towards booking a room at Le Meridien.

Question is, will they give me a room from 7am to 7pm?

eshaq786 Jan 12, 2013 1:36 pm

I queried STPC and they seem to say the following flight will not be applicable:

KUL-BHX
EK0347 connecting to EK0039. This has a connection time of 9 hours 45 mins.

The emirates rep told me that as there are other flights leaving KUL with shorter connecting flights, I will not be eligle. But I don't really want to leave on EK0343 @ 2am. I always thought that it did not matter about the first flight but what made you eligble was the connecting flight. I would understand if there was an earlier flight connecting from EK0347 to BHX but there isn't. Was the person speaking nonsense or am I?

I`m flying on 1/25/13 from SFO to DXB. I`ve a >9hrs layover at DXB. How can I access the lounge ? Whats the cheapest way? A guy on this forum mentioned Skyguide ? Anyone subscribed to this program ?

I thought the same as you and there was some debate recently about this.

I think you've answered the question, but as with everything EK, you may get a different answer if you speak to someone else.
