Quality of emirates

I am planning to fly emirates next year but have read a lot of reports about how much this airline has gone downhill in the last few years. Anyone who have flown economy longhaul with them recently care to confirm or deny this? Been a while since I've flown with them.
Thanks
Josh

Oh to be independently wealthy and not have to meddle with economy. Emirates are fine in economy long haul. Check the aircraft seating plan and look for 2 seaters at the rear which makes it a little more comfortable.

If you scour the forum, you will find a lot of reviews both good and bad. They are still superior to several worldwide carriers in Economy especially with the IFE.

Could you please shed light on some of these reports?
I thought things have always been looking up for EK.

I think a school report would read:
"Could do better, standards have drooped in the last few years, but still near the top of the class".

In the last few years nearly all airlines have had to tighten their belts.

Reports can vary, some are damming but most of these are individuals who for one reason or another did not get what they wanted, and often just making a mountain out of a mole hill, others give glowing reports.

Flew from Oz to Europe and back in Economy, i am a big guy and while tight i found it no less tight than SQ A380 economy, entertainment was fantastic and kept me amused considering i didnt sleep a wink in 40 hours of flying. Food was a little up and down, not inedible but some was great some was not so great, my only recommendation is dont eat the fish even if they say it is nice.

Flew with them recently KUL-DXB-MUC. I'd say in Y, the A380s are far superior and I'd avoid Y in their 777s at all cost. On the 777 shoulder room was extremely tight as seats were placed in a 3-4-3 config. Service is fine, some crew more willing to work than others. Food was good and much better in terms of presentation, quality and quantity than a certain other 5 star Middle East airline which you should avoid.

Flew with them several times on PER-DXB-MUC and v.v. in Y and have never had any big complaints. IFE is far superior, especially on the 380, 777-200LR and newer 777-300ER's. Seats on the A380 are also much wider than those on the 777 which I still find fine. Crew are generally enthusiastic and helpful though sometimes they could do some more drink runs and respond to the crew call button faster. Food is usually of very good standard.

reports.

+1

Emirates has excellent food, service and IFE in business. The lounges are excellent except in DXB, which is a zoo, with pathetic showers. The seats on all aircraft except the A380 are not best in CLass

The F long haul hard product is excellent, but some of us find the decor a bit vulgar.

Certainly better overall than anything Skyteam has to offer, and most * A . The hard product other than A 380 leaves them well short of SQ. KX VS CX BA and QR . The A380 hard product is super, though there are service issues.

So with it's global reach it remains a reasonable bet on most routes and in the top 5 on 380 in J And F

I have no experience on Y.

There are issues with top tier FF benefits, upgrades policies etc. But on a straight product comparison they are very good.
