Dubai T1 Lounge

I will be transiting through Dubai for the first time in eons this weekend (last hurrah for my Skywards Gold status probably) and was wondering what the story is regarding the T1 Lounge.

I know the old "Gate 122 Lounge" is now closed, but have seen conflicting reports about whether the new First Class Lounge across the hall is available for use by Golds. I'll be there during significantly off-peak hours (1200-1600).

Any definitive word or recent experiences?

I think the T1 First class lounge remains closed. I was there in March, but on another trip in April it was closed 'for operational reasons'. Does any know its current status?

The First Lounge in T1 (Concourse C) or fka Concourse 2 is open and has been operational for several months now. Based on posts here, Gold members have access to that lounge but not Silver members.

Thought you had to be Gold Flying J to be able to use the T1 F lounge?

Sounds about right - I was to lazy to trek down there and check it out myself yesterday as I was leaving from a B gate (formerly Concourse 2 also formerly known as Terminal 3) ... good luck and thanks!

I was in the T1 first class lounge end of sep. flying in Y. Was a bit surprised when I looked at my boarding pass after check in and it said 'lounge invitation to the lounge in T1'. Might have been because the departure gate of my flight was 122. b

Agreed. Was J transit Oct to KUL on 0342. Itinerary said T3 but was directed to T1 and F lounge. J lounge was closed for renovation. Lounge crowded, but bearable with short transit time.

Spot on.

I've used it twice in the last couple of weeks, flying Y.

Very nice too. The riff-raff should stay away (go to T3 bus class lounge).

Depends on your definition of "Freeloader" (that's the name of my boat by the way

I guess according to some, a passenger in Y that's a Gold trumps a full fare J pax w no status (only on FT ). I think EK might disagree w that definition however

Longstanding inside "joke" between myself and Budley.

I say "joke" because I always find it funny but he often doesn't.

I dunno, I am sure EK will take all the J pax they can get but if they are only doing it once then hey ho.

Why else do I need to make idle chit chat with someone about welcom back blah blah although I do like the bit where they take my food and drink order and serve me first even in Y.
