EK and QF partnership

A very good article analysing the new partnership, its effect on EK, QF and its main rivals and their respective airport hubs

Yes, good articles indeed.

One thing that no-one seems to have mentioned is the impact on DXB itself.

This airport is already over capacity in terms of flights and pax and having QF deposit quite a few more of both will make it an unpleasant experience for most pax. They will miss the quiet ambience of Singapore.

It can't really go on like this. Building another terminal is not the answer.

You make a good point. I would be interested in reading an analysis on the impact this will have on DXB's Concourse A & B. Having said that, it will all depend on what time they bring the QF birds in. If the connections into Europe are going to work, they will have to arrive just before the early morning departure bank of 6-8 am which will be along with the Asian arrivals.

True, but building another 2 terminals might. It was not long ago that none of the current terminals were even standing. DXB was a tiny little boxlike building w not even a jet bridge. DXB has built the current 2.5 terminals in the same amount of time that it took JFK to build T-4. I can't see how the "relatively" few extra planes coming up from QF will make that much of a difference. That said, your right. It will never be the oasis that SIN is

They still need to sit the aircraft for 17 hours in LHR! I thought the whole idea for QF to fly via DXB is to make A380 stay shorter time in LHR!

They do not *need* to stay 17 hours in London, QF chooses to leaver them there; QF could have the flights depart for Australia at lunchtime if they wanted to or have a daytime service from Australia to arrive in the evening into London

Zol, do you have any idea of the mileage bonuses being offered to QF members based on their tier status? Would be a interesting to know what EK is offering QF Silvers, Golds, Plats, and Plat 1s. Anyone from QF listening?

The underlined bit indicates things of major interest to FTers such as SCs, lounge access etc. may have been already determined.
