Ba is another aa direct to NYC is cheaper than connecting via t5 and going on ba.

Im from dusty old ADL and I want to go ADL-DUB-GLASGOW-DUB-ADL in June with my son in business instead of having to hub via sydney or melbourne, maybe they will release seats when some of the other stuff is sorted.
Doesn't look like there are any QF codeshares on ADL-DXB...

MK ticket on EK metal to MRU saved me 30% on F fares last September - only MK miles earned and not EK miles other than that all benefits same.

Qantas have release more details of their alliance based benefits pending final approval:

About Qantas - Media Room - Media Releases - Qantas and Emirates unveil frequent flyer benefits

Fact sheet:

Qantas and Emirates – Schedule of Benefits

Access to both Qantas and Emirates Business lounges for Gold members of either program in Australia, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

Access to both Qantas and Emirates First lounges for Platinum members of either program where they exist in Australia, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

Lounge Access being conditional on location, not destination, otherwise EK members flying to SYD then NZ would miss out in Sydney as an example.

Given the QF Club Silvers get Business Lounge access in DXB so the EK Silvers will get their lounge access back it seems

Qantas Club members get lounge access through paid membership, not by virtue of being silver ( QC Bronze get access too), so would not use that as a reason to suppose anything to do with EK Silver

More Miles and rewards with Emirates and Qantas

Dear Mr ,

As we gear up to launch our exciting new partnership with Qantas, we're pleased to bring you details on what to expect when travelling with Qantas as an Emirates Skywards member.

From 31 March 2013* earn and redeem Skywards Miles when you travel across the Qantas international and domestic network. While Miles can only be earned on Qantas domestic flights that are part of an international journey, you can book reward flights on any Qantas international or domestic flight. With our combined network of 175 destinations within Australia and around the world, you'll be spoilt for choice. Please click here http://www.skywards.com/partner_deta...ner%20Airlines to see how many Miles you can earn and redeem for a flight with Qantas.

Many Qantas flights will operate with a 5000 series Emirates marketed flight number, bookable via emirates.com or your local travel agent. On these flights you will earn tier Miles just as you do today when flying on an Emirates aircraft. Skywards tier Miles will not be available on flights operated by Qantas under a Qantas flight number. So to continue moving up through the tiers, always remember to book on an Emirates flight code.

Seamless recognition across both airlines means that you will continue to receive your Emirates Skywards Gold privileges of Priority Check In, Excess Baggage, Lounge Access and Priority baggage delivery when flying on the joint Emirates-Qantas network.

With more destinations, enhanced earning and redemption options and recognition through our shared network, the Emirates-Qantas partnership will bring you a world of opportunities.

We look forward to welcoming you, as you begin to take advantage.

Am I right in thinking that because Emirates does not allow single saver flight rewards, that Qantas is much better value for single awards?
eg: Dubai to Sydney single reward on Qantas needs 48000 skywards miles
Dubai to Sydney single reward on Emirates needs 62500 skywards miles
A huge difference.

Is there another webpage that indicates that one way awards are available?

Looking at the chart on http://www.skywards.com/partner_deta...ner%20Airlines , a return trip from Dubai to Sydney on Qantas is a zone 8 award which would be

96k in economy ,
192k in business
288k in 1st

I cannot see one way awards listed, only round trip

For travel on Emirates

Saver round trip
Economy 72,500
Business 145,000
First 217,500

Flex one-way

Economy 62,500
Business 100,000
First 136,250

See the "Important Information" below the quoted reward miles -
"3.One-Way Rewards available at half of the Return Reward requirement"
That is economy only 48,000 miles

To get these lower mileage one-way rewards using skywards miles, will we need to use the Quantas website rather than the Emirates website?

Unlikely, but try the Qantas web site and see how you go.

???

With most (if not all?) mileage programs, you need to book through the website (or call centre) of the program you are booking from, not the airline you are travelling on.. I would expect to use Skyward miles on Qantas, you would need to book via Skywards. There is no mechanism for booking awards on QF website using anything other than QFF points.
