Getting back to silver

Basils back...

High all, well after two years in the wilderness I get back to flying again, and participating on FT.

Following redundancy back in 2010 and many job interviews where I was told I was over qualified, (over qualified = too old), so I went self employed as a franchised locksmith, now back on my feet but still feeling wobbly I have booked my first flight in 2 years, but have lost my coveted “Silver” status, I wonder what is going to be the best way to regain it?

I fly BHX to BKK normally twice a year, but was thinking of upping it to 3 times a year with shorter holidays, but even if as my first flight is in late November (Return December) and I fly 3 times next year completing the last flight before the end of November next year I will only earn 24K tier miles flying saver.

Any ideas on how to get 1,000 extra tier miles?

If you haven't been to HKG, then you could fly from BKK to HKG r/t.
Gives you exactly 1000 miles

Do an open jaw BHX-HKG, BKK-BHX and combine it with a single HKG-BKK (just make sure it's a Y flex fare for 1,000 miles or a J Saver for 1,250).

You'll probably find the open jaw fare is less than the the regular BHX-BKK return, and you don't have the extra travel in the wrong direction on your return.

May be a side tour to HK is going to be my only option, spent a lot of time there when they built the new airport, may be nice to see how it has changed, thanks for your help.

Basil.
