Summary for March 2019:

1) 7x A380s at DWC for temporary storage - A6-EDE, EDM, EEA, EEG, EEM, EEY, EUB

2) Last B777-200LR (A6-EWG) is being upgraded to the new 2-class cabin. It will most likely return to service in the 2nd week of April.

3) B777-300ER (A6-EBF) is now being prepared for Royal Flight RU. Now the only remaining 2-class frame from that series is A6-EBH, which is also due to retire soon.

4) B777-300ER (A6-EBX) is officially retired. It will temporarily be parked at HKG before being delivered to Azur Air as VQ-BZC.

All A6-EBx 2-class frames have been officially removed from service. Only one aircraft with non widescreen IFE and no touchscreen controls remains in service, A6-ECB.

Once that is retired, the oldest 2-class frames (2010 deliveries) will be A6-ECY and ECZ, both of which feature ICE widescreen.

Finally, A6-EWG has returned to service today, making it the final 777-200LR to be reconfigured to the new 2-class layout.

All 10 77L aircraft are now in 38J / 264Y configuration.

With the retirement of the 2-Class 777-300ER's, how long are we from the possible retirement of older 3-Class frames?

EK are retiring only the older 2-class frames…..they still have 16 frames in the fleet….some are just 4 years old.

Depends on the amount of cycles, and how much life is left in them, and also on how long the lease is for the 3-class frames.
11 out of the remaining 15 A6-EBx aircraft are leased from GECAS.

Seeing as how EK is expecting deliveries of 777-9s next year, and A330-900neos to start in 2021, they might start retiring the older 3-class 77Ws around the same time.
