SIN-DXB in F

My wife and I will be traveling from Singapore to Dubai on Emirates in First. Which Emirates aircraft offers the best F experience on this route?

777-300 (773)
777-ER (77W)
777-LR (77L)

thanks

Whichever one with suites :) - though I doubt any of the 773 fleet has suites.

Rather than worry about aircraft type, worry about actual flight no.

There are 4 flights a day to DXB. Three run F Suites (EK405, EK355, EK432). The only one that runs the old F product is EK349, which stops over in CMB (Columbo).

You can easily tell via ExpertFlyer, because when you check the seat map for F on EK349, it will show 12 seats in F (rather than 8, which is the suites configuration).

If it was me, I would always opt for EK432, as it leaves at the most civilised time (ie departs SIN at 0930)

Does the 772LR actually have ICE digital widescreen and the new F cabin (ie new Suites?). If so, I'd go with this as you're guaranteed a better hard product than the older Suites (though the difference is marginal).

Pardon my ignorance ung1, what are the new Suites? Haven't been on the forum in quite a while.

Given that the choices are 01:40 , 02:00 and 09:30 for non-stop services to Dubai , I would definitely be taking the 09:30 EK433 service

All the non-stop services have suites , so are all decent in 1st class. The only differences that can occur in suites ime is that some aeroplanes have the older ICE system which isn't as good as the newer Widescreen ICE digital and some aeroplanes have manually operated window blinds rather than electronic

Neither are major issues and , even if I knew that the 0930 flight was going to have manually operated window blinds and older ICE , I would definitely ( as I am this week ) take the 09:30 flight

The one other option , EK349 via Colombo, at 00:55 is one that I would definitely not take since it (a) goes via Colombo which adds 45 minutes to the journey and (b) doesn't have suites

One of the differences on the new planes is also the higher ceiling. The Suites are newer and I feel the seat is more sturdy and the mechanisms are smoother.

I would take the 433 unless you need to connect somewhere in the morning, which isn't possible if arriving in Dubai at noon, or you need to be in Dubai in the morning, in which case the 4-5 am arrival gives you somewhat of a full night's sleep and the whole day in Dubai.

The 77W or 77L are best. There are 77W's that are 2 class. But the 3 class 77W all have suites.

What is the first class cabin configuration on the return flight EK348 from DXB via CMB?

It's the old F at present - you can tell because when you look at the cabin layout on EF, it shows 12 seats (and not 8, when configured for suites). The aircraft operating SIN-CMB-DXB (EK348/349) is a 777-200LR and runs a smaller Y cabin, same J cabin (42) and larger F (old seats). I'm doing this next week...

You can also tell , in what I find to be quicker way, by looking at the booking classes in EF. If a flight shows P class it has suites otherwise, if it shows F, it has a non-suite product

348/349 Cmb-DXB HAS the older sky cruiser seat in a 2-2-2 configuration two rows. The "Skycruiser I think it was called that, has the minibar in between the seats and a tilt up partition. They have used that config for some time. We recently flew on 348/349 several trips. 650 has the 77W with the suites I think 5 days a week.

Cheers,

Just did 349 ex CMB on early saturday morning in F (departure 3.15am! :o)

Load was 6, none from singapore. All 6 of us were joiners from CMB. That should give you an indication of how popular it is ex SIN when 405/355/433 go nonstop with Suites instead of this Skycruiser.

On top of that, people continuing on are not allowed to disembark in CMB.

348/349 is operated by a 773 with old F. 772LR is the 354/355 and has Suites.
