I know the pipeline will be for logistics purposes cause there's no refinery for jet fuel in the vicinity at the moment. Just by interest how much will EK save just by doing this ?
Any chance they will extend the jet fuel pipeline to the Indian Ocean aswel ? A trans-ocean jet fuel pipeline to the indian ocean is not feasable. It is only feasable for trans-country i.e. between terminals at seaport to the airport which accounts for tens of kilometers and saves truck bridging to the airport which reduces transport cost and reduces traffic. |

The pipelines are not owned by EK. EK like other airlines recieve the jet fuel at the airport from the oil companies. Oil companies own the pipelines. Infact there are two of them, one is owned by SHELL, BP and EMARAT. The other is owned by ENOC which it uses in addition to CALTEX.

I'm really interested to know how they will connect it to the two airports. My logical guess would be a long, or some how next to the metro lines that will link the airports, but we don't have any concrete info on that yet. This way it could save on infrastructure costs. |
Also regarding the possibility of a trans-country jet fuel pipeline to the Indian Ocean just like what they're doing with the Habshan-Fujairah oil pipeline for security reasons. Can you see this happening ? This could insure no matter what EK/EY, etc, etc, frames will get off the ground.
