France - CCU

Hi everyone,

This is my first time in the Emirates section of the forum. I am a student in a French Business School and I will study in Kolkota for the fall semester. I will very soon book my flight from France to CCU.
I've only flown Air France on long haul yet and I would like to try Emirates out.
I've looked at fares from LYS (with a stopover in FRA and DXB) and it costs 3200€ (!!) in Y. For flights CDG-CCU via DXB it costs 720€. Both flights are at the same date...
Is the difference only due to the Lufthansa segment LYS-FRA?
Is there any way I could lower that amount? (It would be much easier for me to fly directly from Lyon)

Thanks for you help!

Hello JCTflyer

Normally tickets are expensive if they are on two different airlines which do not have an agreement and this seems to be the case here as well as I dont think LH and EK have any sort of agreement.

From EU, Etihad (EY) have an agreement with Airberlin, so you may get a good fare with them. Although I am not sure EY flies to CCU or not.

Your best option is just to take a flight out of the nearest airport (or one which is easily accessible to you) which EK flies to if you want to fly EK. Just take a train/flight or drive to that airport and catch your flight

Hope this helps.

Btw, welcome to the EK forum!

Thank you Gandhi for your response!

EY doesn't seem to have flights to CCU but I've checked EK and they also fly to GVA which is not very far from LYS, I should find a good fare:)

(at a time, weren't there plans for EK to fly to LYS?)

Just booked it!

I'll fly CDG-DXB-CCU and on the return trip CCU-BKK (air asia), BKK-HKG and then HKG-DXB (via BKK), DXB-CDG! Can't wait!

How's 66A/K on EK's A380?
