Emirates First Class Lounge at BKK, opening hours?

In currently in Kuala Lumpur, flying to Bangkok on 2nd May, arriving about 10pm.

On 3 May, at 13.45, I have a First Class ticket with Emirates from BKK-HKG.

I am wondering is there any way I could use the Emirates Lounge overnight instead of paying for a hotel? Now, I don't mean sleep with my feet up, I merely mean sit there, use laptop, read papers, eat etc. Or is the lounge shut at night?

I could ask Thai to pass my bags on to EK which would mean not having to go through immigration and baggage reclaim.

I have around 12hrs to kill. I wonder if EK offer their lounge to First customers even 'in transit' long before the flight?

So nobody knows then?

I'm guessing from the lack of replies that nobody here has attempted your plan before. The only data point I can offer is that as of early 2011 the BKK lounge was not 24-hour, as I remember passing it in the evening before flying another airline and it was shut.

Hotels in BKK are plentiful and reasonably priced - the Novotel on the airport grounds is efficient and comfortable, but charges a premium for its location... personally I would look elsewhere for a 15-hour layover.

I am not an EK flyer, but I believe that there was a consensus on TG forum, that the only lounge at BKK airport, open 24h is Louis Tavern. You can gain access (for free) by showing Diners Club card (in theory only for 3h - but in practice no-one cares).

BTW.. you really want to stay at the airport:confused::confused::confused:

Go to the downtown area, book a decent hotel and - if you are really feed up with Bangkok downtown - spend the morning in the hotel's swimming pool or spa. BKK downtown hotels are much more affordable, than KUL Golden Triangle..

It takes 45mins to get to Bangkok downtown, and over 1000BHT each way. I would prefer to stay at the Novotel BKK, but it is so overpriced it's ridiculous. £150 per night. And I won't even get my room until nearly midnight.

I don't have a Diners Card anyway.

Thanks for info.

I agree that the Novotel is overpriced. For tomorrow night, there's a Best Western for about GBP60, or the 'Vismaya' for GBP28. Both are within a few miles of the airport, seem well regarded on tripadvisor and possibly have airport shuttles. There are even cheaper hotels in the area also...

I spent 7 hours (daytime) in BKK airport recently and it wasn't pleasant... you have 15!

Take a metered taxi for THB300 (30 mins) or the ARL Airport Express for THB150 (17 mins). Even if it does take 45 minutes in rush hour, you have plenty of time to kill.

1000BHT each way?? Planning on taking a helicopter? Like khalid mentioned, cabs are much cheaper than that, as is the shuttle.

I don't know about the EK lounge though, haven't (yet) been to the one in BKK.
