EK Upgrade

Hi,

I used to travel with EK alot within 9 months I racked up Gold status. With this status I claimed a UK-DXB rt ticket with points, a J class upgrade with points and a few UK hotel stays. I relocated back to the Republic of Ireland a few years back and my EK use became non-existent. My travel concentrated on EY/BA/DL and EI. With the Dublin service in full swing I am going to try and get my status back, as it is now Blue. Now I have booked a Y saver ticket and with the newly upgraded 777 service to DUB what are my chances of a cheeky upgrade with EK? would I be seen somewhere as a returning customer of some description or am I clutching completely at straws?!

Thanks!

Even Skywards Blue is probably more status than most on the flight... so that will be in your favour. DUB is usually oversold in Y on the 330, but that might change with the 777. Good luck!

Your chance of getting an upgrade are, I would say, slightly better than going into a car showroom and paying for an Astra and being given the keys for a BMW 5 series

if you want to travel business class, then I would suggest buying a business class ticket or , if you have miles available, see if a mileage upgrade is available

I've just made your post more readable (and how EK will see it) :D

When at the check-in desk tell them that you are delighted that they are finally serving Dublin and that you used to be a very heavy user of EK until you relocated. A bit of praise and encouragement never did any harm.

Hehe, more than an upgrade, you should ask what are your chances of getting the meal of your choice.. I traveled business, the flight attendent took the order ( which means the meals were available) and then later told it got OVER ( means she gave it to another passenger of her liking)
