skywards vs partner ff accounts
 

A friend of mine is travelling on emirates out of India and was wondering which frequent flyer program his miles should be credited to. The two Indian partners of emirates, Jet and Kingfisher FF programs does not appear to give any miles for travelling on EK to DXB out of India. Which FF account would you recommend? Alaska? or some other program will be better for him? Also he has 15 hour overnight break in DXB on his onward journey and this is the first time he is flying. Is there anything he can do either to sleep or entertain him in DXB? Obviously he is looking for something that does not cost much or free if possible. I am not familiar with EK or DXB and I appreciate your suggestions. Thanks

Can I ask a silly question? Why doesn't he just credit to Skywards itself?

Most likely he will ask me to manage his account and I am not familiar with skywards. How easy is it to redeem skywards miles? I briefly looked on their website and didn't find a simple award chart. I was looking for suggestions and if I did not find any other good program I was going to suggest him Alaska Airlines FF program as it will be easier for me to manage it.

Once he flies the first sector the miles are credited within hours into the account (ie. After he lands in a few hours).

I once had my miles credit before the plane even landed, but on most of my EK flights it has taken a full day to credit.
