KVS Tool and Emirates inconsistencies?
I am looking at a flight from CMB -> MLE on the 28th of this month (January). The KVS tool using Sabre reports:
[KVS Availability Tool 6.9.3/Diamond - Sabre: Availability/FS/US] Code:
CMB Colombo Metro LK = CMB RML Is it typical that KVS/Sabre disagree with Emirates? |

CMB Colombo Metro LK = CMB RML Is it typical that KVS/Sabre disagree with Emirates? 1. EK changes availability based on point of sale. As far as I know, KVS shows point of sale from the USA. However, when buying a ticket from CMB, the flight probably shows F0 A0. Now... the normal solution would be to go to expedia.com and buy the ticket there with a US point of sale and everyone would be happy. But... 2. The F class CMB-MLE ticket has a SITI restriction which means tickets can only be sold and ticketed in the origin country (i.e Sri Lanka.) [Sales Restrictions] SITI TRANSACTIONS PERMITTED. SOTO/SITO/SOTI TRANSACTIONS NOT PERMITTED. |
I've had particular difficulty with DXB-MLE-CMB... and presumably the same conditions exist in reverse. For example, when availability Europe-DXB-MLE (the DXB-MLE flight at 0300-ish) exists, DXB_MLE at 0940 does not. This is despite when searching for a one-way, both flights have good availability.
It makes sense... force European connecting pax onto the 0340 and preserve space on the 0940 for DXB-MLE O-D pax. It is however the first instance of selective availability based on itinerary/POS that I've seen on EK. However, it seems to work well for them - as part of an ex-Europe sale fare I booked a J seat (O class) and the flight I'm on is now showing J2 C2 I1 O0 while the later flight has better availability. |

Why would Emirates make this flight unable to be booked outside Sri Lanka in F or J? More importantly, since the Male flight is likely predominantly booked by transit passengers, why would they put a SITI restriction on this flight? Or, is this flight mostly servicing Sri Lankan people?! |

Indeed, this is a POS issue:

On my KVS Tool the POS is greyed out with US showing. How do I change it to JP when using the availability feature?

For the JP Availability POS, please select the [Galileo: ETR] Method.

When I choose [Galileo: ETR] the POS field disappears and I get a Class(es) field.
