Thanks for the snarky comments.
What I would like is for someone to check on me after 15-20 minutes while eating if I would like a drink refill or anything else. Once they serve what I "order", the FA only comes back after 30 minutes to clear the table, and then ask if I want anything else. It would be nice if they would come by some time in between. Too often, I have seen the FA's just chatting in the galley. Absolutely not acceptable in F. LH has a much better level of service in F. |

I guess we all have somewhat different travel patterns and (not unrelated) different expectations of the service. I try to do all my traveling by night so I just want to go to sleep and be left alone. The most irritating thing I have regularly experienced was with QF where - even when flying economy - a crew member would specifically come over to welcome elite frequent flyers onboard. Some probably see that as recognition of frequent customers whereas I saw it as another nuisance on a flight in par with unnecessary PA announcements. I do nevertheless agree with you that increasingly the crew doesn't seem that motivated and that does have a negative impact on Emirates. I don't really care as to me EK is still by far the best option on my regular routes and even if, say, SQ offers a more consistent and better service, the huge difference in price tags between EK and SQ makes it a no brainer to fly EK. Besides, I find that whole SIA Girl concept as tacky and outdated as Roger Moore's James Bond. |

You are welcome. Apologies if my comments had the odorative properties of the South end of a Northbound mule.

I don't really know why they do this, because if you ask for a glass of Dom, they come by every 5-10 minutes to refill. I guess some people drink too much of the stuff on board, and they get used to that. (No FT'er would surely do that, right ?)

(Most) all of us have to compromise on something or the other, and in that respect, flying EK Business/First isn't too bad :p |

Actually... and I'm not sure whether I'm allowed to say this aloud, but my major dislike to Emirates is the way their first class on the Australian routes has become a major bogan bus experience. Call me a snob, but I would hope for a bit of a standard of appearance in the first class. Thongs, board shorts and wife beaters IMHO are not appropriate.

Last week on EK404 there also were no napkins with breakfast in F. I was slightly irritated but not enough to bother with pressing the call button and asking for one.
I have successfully acquired panadol on an EK flight but have never specifically asked for any specific pain killer. It is not clear whether the LandingGrea was specifically asking for aspiring and did not get any [assuming there was none onboard], or whether he/she was just trying to get _any_ pain killer without the requests being entertained. |

Yea, a napkin makes a trip. how would you have felt if you had a heart attack after taking an asprin? hence why drugs will not be adminsitered on a plane. geniune criticisms are well and good but this is absolute nonsense in my opinion

Really? Because I have had tablets for my headache given to me on multiple occasions and multiple airlines.
Asprin was refused although they did have it onboard in the Med Kit IIRC. |

As far as my experience goes with EK I have been able to get Panadol only.
Asprin was refused although they did have it onboard in the Med Kit IIRC. They might have another kit with non- emergency medication. |

I have only flown Emirates Business Class once (2nd time is coming up in a few days).
It is a big improvement over Economy Class, no doubt about it but the service seemed to be going for the minimum amount. At first I was impressed, the flight attendants asking the passsengers for the drink they would like once the plane has taken off - even before some were properly seated / still busy. During the flight though the flight attendants pretty much vanished, they were only quick (too quick) to take away food items. Just moments after I was given some roasted nuts, the flight attendant came back to pick them up again. In Economy Class you at least know that the flight attendants will offer drinks from time to time. After the "take off"-drink this didn't happen in Business Class nor would they ask if "everything is okay" or if one would wish a drink. Are you really expected to use the "call"-button every time you want something to drink in Business Class? I found this to be rather strange, to me it seemed the crew was hiding away, hoping they wouldn't be bothered by the passengers. I hope my upcoming business-flight will be a different experience (and that the lounge in DXB won't be packed full) |
