They called back today and continued to blame me for cancelling online (I didn't even know you could.) Finally got it fixed but the attitude they gave me was so bad that I cancelled all my EK tickets for the rest of the year that didn't have cancellations penalties (not that many, unfortunately.) I'm sure I'll get over it soon but they've REALLY ticked me off and I am generally not an angry person.

Didn't you have an anti-Emirates hissy fit a few years ago as well? I seem to remember it vaguely.

I feel your pain. Unfortunately, the humans behind the phone lines and those operating the computer terminals are completely at the mercy of the IT/IS systems, they have little over-ride power or leeway to remediate issues like yours for precisely one reason: that is the calculated and deliberate way the airline management want it. You must play the game within their defined rules, or else you pay. They don't want the human agents thinking for themselves and fixing things, at a large airline like EK it can cause chaos and lack of oversight and control. Additionally, human agents who can not really think and have just basic common sense are generally cheaper, it's easier to get them to just follow rules and parrot whatever the computer screen says. An employee who can think for him/herself will be problematic as he/she will make decisions that may not be congruent with airline management's objectives, and will also likely be better educated and expect commensurate compensation. Basically, pay peanuts and you will get monkeys.
I am based in the US and I can tell you that your experience with the EK agent at the office is not too much unlike the experience that one can expect here, or possibly even worse.

Update, went to the Emirates office [semi-rant below]

I explain the situation and the agent said the same thing "your ticket was changed at XXX EST on January 7th with your TA." I pointed out that that time was the middle of the night in Karachi where my TA is and that the agent simply did not change the ticket. He didn't. She then argued with me and told me she did. I said on Jan 7th the only person I communicated with was Emirates.

After almost 15 minutes of going in circles, she decided to check again and she's like oh wait this ticket has been refunded online on Jan 7th not by a TA.

Yes, you, sir, YOU (direct quote) refunded the ticket online.

By this point I was livid. She had the audacity to say that this is not Emirates problem but rather my problem because I didn't check carefully enough and pressed cancel instead of change.

I then showed them the copy of the email from EK which said "your ticket change was not succesful please contact the Emirates office" at which point she said there's simply nothing I can do.

I then asked where my supposed "refund" was and was told to contact the TA even though I "refunded" it online. Finally she said she would contact DXB as they deal with online change issues and now I have to call back tomorrow.

I am NOT happy.

Mate

U got EKEEED.

But then u also are the middle one between a TA & EK???

So u got EKEEED even more than you would want:eek: Try & keep the TA out next time if it works out for you OR he better be a cousin bro to you!!!! Atleast this way you get the best Kebabs & Mutton in town.@:-)
