Shower on A380

Will be traveling F on A380 and just wondering how do they allocate the use of the shower facility on flight. I read each person is allocated 20 mins but shower time is only 5 mins, but how do they arrange who goes first? Is that something you book with the FA before take-off or do they just allocate everyone a time and they stick to it? I presume most people will want to shower before getting off the flight, but 14 pax x 20 mins means some people are going to shower and then go back to sleep!?

This is First - you do things when you want :) (within reason). Just ask the FA for your desired slot as soon as you're on - first come first served. It won't be such a big issue as all 14 Suites may not be occupied, and some of the passengers may not want to use the shower.

And there are two available.

Notify the flight attendant of your desired time as soon as you board. The times are like 3.5hrs before arrival, right to 1h15 before arrival, with the '2 hr before' being the most popular.

Enjoy the experience, and make sure you wet the loofah in the sink prior to entering the shower (will save you a good 30 seconds of water).

I'm flying BKK-HKG in F and wondering can you also shower in such a short flight?

BTW as I'm not a native english speaker, I was just wondering what "loofah" is.

I had to check it out. I had something else in my mind

I have showered on the journey in the other direction, HKG-BKK, so I would imagine it is allowed on your flight. You should make sure you ask the attendant at the earliest opportunity as there isn't a lot of time available.

Thanks for the advice. Looking forward!

AKL-SYD/SYD-AKL is around 3 hours and when I've done it most F passengers took a shower (from memory 10 out of 14). So yeah the BKK sector is doable. Though I'm not sure about the HKG-BKK leg, it may be too short to get to spend your time without affecting your food service.

Shower is available on all A380 operated routes, however it is considered on "request basis" for JED, SYD-AKL v.v and BKK-HKG v.v so you wont pro-actively be asked for a reservation time on these flights .. but the service is definately there. Some customers choose to sleep the entire DXB-BKK leg and then eat/shower on the BKK-HKG leg.

For all flights the shower is available immediately after take off till the last slot being one hour before landing. So you may shower once the seat belt sign is off at cruising level, however as stated before the most popular time is naturally before landing.

If you have a particular preference inform the crew, however the will come around to take any reservations. Preference will be given to High Valued Customers when there may be a double up so you may be offered an alternative however this is quiet rare.

Thanks for replies. So once inside the F, I'll book for the shower experience :D

you'll love it. You get 5 mins hot water - but you can switch it on and off to allow you you to soap up and then rinse off later. Ask for the latest possible slot - then you arrive shiny and new

Waste of time in my opinion. You could be in the bar!

How will the shower cabin be cleaned before you use it ?
I wouldn't be happy to use an uncleaned shower in a hotel room, in a plane it's not different for me.

They have two attendants onboard whose only job is to clean the showers after people use them.

Do they hand you your towel if you step out with soap in your eyes?
