Connecting at JFK

I arrive on a flight at JFK at 9:41 AM and have to change airlines to make an Emirates flight at 11:05 AM. Will that give me time? Do I have to go to baggage at get my bag and check it with Emirates or will it be automatically transferred as I will purchase my ticket for the flights together through one of the online travel companies?

You should be fine. Your bags will be booked thru to your final destination, so all you have to do at JFK is get to your EK gate on time.

It depends where you are travelling from and who with?

That is only correct if the flight arriving at JFK is domestic (or precleared). If it is international, you must clear US immigration and customs, and re-deposit your bag. And you will very likely miss your connection, and be SOL, as the minimum connection time for International-International at JFK is 2 hours.

The minimum connection time for Domestic-International at JFK is 75 minutes. So if your inbound flight is domestic, and you are on a single ticket, EK will be obliged to rebook you if you misconnect.

I booked the entire flight through Emirates so I should be okay.
