EK SFO lounge status

Emirates decided to abandon UA and build their own lounge at SFO. They are currently building out the old transit lounge in the A-Terminal and will move their flight to the A-Terminal upon completion.

Does anyone have a timeline when this lounge may open? I heard possibly by the end of summer.

When I was there in May the EK Ground Staff told me that the lounge should be up & going by the end of September.

Lets wait & watch. Will post a new update on this in 2 weeks time when I shall be in SFO again.

Safe Flying

I would be curious to know also if the lounge is opening soon, although my flight out is not until March.

Are EK considering opening their own lounges in LAX or IAH, since they now fly to both places twice daily?

No lounge in SFO, as of September 9th. Will have a chance to see again in early December.

What's the rush, though ?

Doesn't anyone like the self serve Coke machines and plastic cups accompanied with your choice of trail mix or cubes of Cheddar/Monterey Jack cheese with crackers ?

According to this article, looks like a November date for the opening of their SFO lounge.

Are you flying out of SFO soon? I am passing through in early March, so I am hoping that the lounge is open by then.

UA first class lounge

I like the UA SFO first class lounge. Perhaps one of the better SFO First lounges. Much better than the SFO BA first class closet.

Ek does have great lounges world wide. Super F lounge in DXB. Most other EK lounges do not have a Business lounge and a first lounge, just a mixed class lounge. Ek business class lounges fill up quickly with all the Gold card and credit card free passes being offered.

Will fly EK SFO-DXB in Jan will check out the configuration then.

I flew SFO-DXB a few weeks ago and it was still the UA club, and I believe we used gate 99. I thought it was wierd that EK's counters are on the far south side of the terminal.. was quite the healthy hike to security.

It is now December 4 and still no word if the lounge opened. Press releases were stating Nov 27th.

The check in counters are located on the South side because they are moving there when the new lounge opens.

CX, which I had no idea they were building their own lounge at SFO, opened a few days ago.
