Interesting news from the 'Do'

One of the things that came out over the last few days is that EK monitor this forum closely. And at a pretty high ranking level...

On the back of this, there are changes/enhancements to some of the most 'moaned about' things in the offing.

We were told that one enhancement to the EK site was specifically due to the level of dissatisfaction that was expressed on here.

I won't go into any detail, but the changes will start appearing soon :D

I'm sure the regular EK flyers will be pleased.

Cheers,
Rick

With all due respect Rick, if you don't go into detail why bother posting in the first place?

Yes, I too was pleased with some of the things I was told. A truly fun morning.

I read it that he was simply illustrating the point that our postings are monitored rather than posting to provide specific information about a particular issue that has been debated.

So, pants down: What are the topics you have been talking about?

The point was that it's good that this forum is monitored, so don't think complaints or compliments go unnoticed.

You were there, so you probably know as much as I do :)

Cheers,
Rick

I can appreciate that it may be frustrating for some that we can't (or won't) share more. But at the end of the day, for me at least, it comes down to respecting the request (implied or direct) not to distribute the information.

I for one was surprised that EK allowed photography of their multi-million dollar training facility. But we asked in advance. And they graciously agreed.

But we didn't go there to specifically talk with EK about program enhancements, new tiers, website developments etc. Did they give us "hints" as to what might be coming down the pipe when we asked one on one in conversation? Yes. Does it mean we should post it? I don't think so.

Its not like any of the information we discussed hasn't already been posted about. For example, will there be a 4th tier? Probably. Will the Flex versus Saver issue be resolved? Of course.

Part of the weekend was about taking small steps. For us to engage with EK. And for EK to engage with us. Do I wish they would appoint an official "lurker" tomorrow? Yes. Quicker even.

With all due respect to you as the moderator, the purpose of this forum is not for some users to stand back and say "I know something you don't know, nani nani boo boo" but rather to share information.

Certainly, don't share information publicly that you are not comfortable sharing for whatever reasons. But by the same token, don't post that you have information that you won't share. That's just tacky. IMHO. YMMV.

Indeed.

Put up or shut up is what Debrett's guide to etiquette would say.

Maybe. :p

Totally agree. If you have something to say then say it, DON'T say that I have something that you all don't know.

Not getting into the debate here, but I'd glad that they're finally making it easier.

Did you actually read my response above?

Or did you just choose to ignore it?

Whatever the specific news is, it's good to hear that FT is known in EK.

Sad not to have made the do, getting to Dubai this weekend instead sadly.

Guys, we were all there. Lets not get into a pissing match with each other. And for what its worth, there are several purposes of the EK forum as I see it - not just one.

Lets all move on...
