Flex Versus Saver Miles To Upgrade
 

I wasn't aware of this issue. Here's the scenario.

SIN-MEL-SIN - If you book Flex on the outbound and Saver on the return, Skywards treats the whole itinerary as a SAVER in terms of miles required to upgrade any leg.

So, technically if I want to upgrade the SIN-MEL sector and that leg is priced and ticketed as a FLEX fare, I need to burn 37,500 miles (Saver rate) - rather than the Flex rate of 30,000 miles.

Doesn't seem logical or fair if you ask me.

I think this issue is going to start to raise its head now after the raft of changes to the booking engine where Saver fares have become far more prevalent. The system will now often book a combination Flex/Saver itinerary.

I wasn't aware of this.

Anyone else experience this?

This is new to me, the only issue I have raised before is when I booked a flex/saver reward ticket they treated the whole booking as a saver when I wanted to change the 1st leg of a flight (which was the flex part), I got charged for that.

I think you would have been charged because of having to reissue the whole ticket, hence calling for the penalties on the return.

8B, I am surprised at this thing. Did you actually call skywards and verify this was the case?
