Growing passenger numbers on flights, as a result of a codeshare partnership with Emirates, will soon see Flydubai flights landing at Emirates' Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport (DXB), the airline’s CEO has said.

“The cooperation is growing very strongly, and in the future we’ll be moving flights to different parts of the airport, [and] absolutely to Terminal 3,” Ghaith al Ghaith said.

Yikes, it was bad enough without FZ there. Maybe they'll still have stands at T2 and bus everyone from A/B/C gates?

How long before the non-UAE carriers are "encouraged" out of Concourse D to DWC?

That means we'll all be going from A to D on a regular basis if EK/FZ take over. :-/

Ultimately EK will be the only carrier left at DXB for my guess is a period of at least 2-3 years. The rapid connection via express metro being the way to connect between airports when needed. Of course, hyperloop may be in operation by then. Should take about 6 minutes between airports ;-)

The metro will not be enough to persuade airlines to make the switch. One important element is left, and that is the infrastructure of air bridges at what ever terminal/concourse that will be at DWC.

Remember it needs to be at least equal, or better than what they already have at DXB

If they're looking at a 220 million passengers per year, at least some of the DWC terminals will be good enough

You can already see that Concourse D has a mixture of air bridges and ground level gates. That would work for EK and FZ

All they have to do for starters at DWC is build the first terminal, and only one concourse with airbridges with the capacity to handle 60 million pax a year.

That is the bare minimum for foreign airlines to make the switch. The metro should be completed by then.

That would leave all of DXB for EK, and FZ with a capacity to move over 100 pax a year.

That would be a great improvement on transit. Might even mean I get an extra drink in the lounge! DXB-AU already have to go through a separate screening at the gate before boarding.
