Paul Griffiths was on the radio this morning. He had no mention of terminal 4, but just said "concourse" 4 would be next to concourse 1, and Cargo Village.

Immigration is bad enough at Terminal 1, just imagine when concourse 4 shares the same infrastructure.

That was the target, but first quarter 2013 is more realistic, even though decisions could be made, and changed in a snap of a finger in Dubai.

In reality three extra months won't really change any thing if that's what it takes to do it right.

You're absolutely right. Immigrations is very bad. They doesn't doing good job at all. They have beef up to reduced wait times is a least 10 minutes at Immigrations. Because the entire Terminal 1 is too extremely overcrowded and there is no room to expanded more Immigrations checkpoint. There is no express line to cleared at Passport control.

At least an expansion of the existing T1 immagration would be welcome.

While they're at it a little modern make over wouldn't be bad either.

Dubai World Expo Bid states this in the Venue section,

The new Al Maktoum International airport, already receiving cargo flights, is adjacent to the site and will be open for passenger flights by 2020. At full capacity Al Maktoum will have the ability to carry 160 million passengers a year. By 2020 a new high speed transit rail will link Al Maktoum to Dubai International Airport, itself predicted to be the world’s busiest airport by 2015.

So fingers crossed that we get a high speed rail link between DXB, and DWC in the future.

I Dubai also win the 2024 Olympic bid, expect DWC to be totally complete by then for sure, lot's of infrastructure/construction for us to follow.

I completely agree with you this. They have expanding more immigration checkpoint. Because it was too extremely overcrowded at Customs & Immigration. They have get fast-track lane for Business & First Class only. It will have to reduced wait time at Immigration. No more wait for 10 minutes at Immigration. They have save the time.

BBC Middle East Business Report: Check-In to Take-Off at Dubai Airport

A friend of mine who goes by the user name Face 81 posted this on another forum. I invited him to join us here on FT, hopefully we will have the pleasure of his company.

It's regarding infrastructure five stories below the airport you never see, the baggage handling facility at DXB. The video is a little old, but still worth a watch.

Imagine how deep the new baggage handling facility will be when done ???

^^ So this is where you have been hiding?!

So two things to look forward to....

1) A VERY deep hole for the new remote baggage handling facility at DXB
2) A new high speed rail line linking DXB with JXB/DWC

Welcome Face, it's a fun forum.

This thread is good for us because it's all about infastructure/building up of DXB, and DWC. Since nothing what so ever get's built in the UAE with out us knowing about it we can be very informative to the rest of the forumers.

The mod likes us to stick to miles/programs/lounges, etc, etc on the other threads.
