Wasn't there an architect working on DWC posting on this very forum who really didn't enjoy the EK design aesthetic, both in form and function - maybe that's his influence/he's been let go

Seems like an odd layout with some really long taxis.
runway - freight(?) - runway - concourses - runway - runway - runway - hangers(?)
From the concourses to runway 4 and 5 it is going to be a really long way.
To me a better layout would have been to reduce taxi distances
runway - freight - runway - concourses - runway - runway - concourses - runway - hangers
Then each set of concourses get an arrival and departure runway on each side. When I first saw the six runway layout it was more like this. yes the people movers would have to travel further, but they travel faster and more direct underground than the planes taxi and use less fuel than the planes would have to go all that way.

I didn't know they were building an express train line from Dubai to DWC. It sounds similar to the HKG setup - check in a drop your bags at the station, and travel on the train with just your hand baggage.

Emirates rejects Lufthansa, Air France-KLM claims in letter to EU.
Emirates says Lufthansa and Air France-KLM claims that Gulf airlines engaged in unfair practices untrue.
"It is baffling why two of the largest legacy airlines in Europe are alleging that Gulf carriers have caused them to contract their Asian services when the opposite is true," an Emirates spokeswoman said.
"OAG (Official Airline Guide) data show that between 2007 to 2017, the 6 European carriers combined actually grew capacity from Europe to Asia in terms of seats (17 percent), and flight frequencies (6 percent)," she added.
