Emirates and status matching! It works :)
I am a Qatar airway Gold member and Skywards blue. I sent an email to Skywards requesting them to match my status. I got a reply after 2 days that they have forwarded my inquiry to the specified department for review. Today I got this email:
Dear Mr.……………, we are writing to you with regards to your interest in the Skywards programme. We are delighted to advise you that we have upgraded your membership to Skywards Silver status. Your new membership pack will reach you within 3-4 weeks, in the interim you may wish to visit your account online and print a temporary Skywards Silver card. We hope you enjoy the benefits of the Skywards Silver membership, and we look forward to welcoming you on board Emirates flights. Yours sincerely, Glenn Hernandez Skywards Members Services I have to say that I didn’t really expect this. They didn’t even ask for my Qatar Airways statement. I am very happy for that although they didn’t really match my status with QR but at least they upgraded me to silver. Good gesture from Skywards and emirates. |
Excellent.^
Can I ask which email did you use to contact skywards? |

I had a similar experience to tokyolyon. I sent an e-mail, though I referenced a couple of reservations that I had upcoming and enclosed my QR (Gold) statement, and they granted me Silver status in a prompt and professional manner.
I think that it was great customer service and it paid off for them. I have taken several J trips on EK since then and am now Gold. |
So QR Gold matches to EK Silver?

Only for QR? Any experience from other frequent flyer programs?

I think it works as an incentive. They won't give you equivalent status, but something so you're not starting at the lowest tier. But then in a such a case, how many miles do you need for Gold? Only 25k more? Or the full 50k?

EK upgraded my status from Silver to Gold when I requested it based on my AA EXP and CO Plat status, but I had enough trips booked out that would have seen me reach Gold anyhow.
The wording of the email I received was almost identical to the OP's. |
Didn't work for me!
I tried doing it but received an email saying basically no.:(
