Mixing classes

If I try to book GLA-DXB-BKK with one leg in Y and one in J, I get the following message:

Please note that your itineary (sic) has been priced on a different cabin class from the one you have requested to obtain the best fare.
and the full journey is "forced" into J.

However, if I try to book one leg in J and one in F, then no problem. Any reason for the first one not being available, and would I be able to book it by calling Emirates rather than trying to do it on-line?

Working fine for me. Just tried GLA-BKK in J and BKK-GLA in Y for middle of Feb.

No, I meant GLA-DXB in Y followed by DXB-BKK in J using the multiple destination booking screen.

The return journey (BKK-DXB-GLA) was all being booked in one class anyway.

Did that work with J/F? That might be a problem because tier miles are given on the basis of an entire half of the journey being in one class.

Yes, it works OK with a mix of J and F.

The miles show on the booking screen as having the F Bonus miles for the full Europe West to Far East journey, although whether they would be forthcoming is another matter.

It might be possible that GLA-DXB in Y and DXB-BKK J is more expensive than GLA-DXB-BKK all in J

+1

Why don't you try GLA-DXB in Y and the other in J in two seperate bookings?

See how much you get if it's higher then go for the all J.

I think you've hit the nail on the head.

A Y+J if priced as separate tickets is going to be cheapo Y and overpriced J ex-DXB, so J all the way is cheaper. What you could possibly try is J ex GLA and Y ex DXB and see if that makes it any better!

That combination forces a J ticket for the entire journey as well, with the same message as quoted above.

Yes, definitely much higher - premiums for single tickets I imagine.

You will find that it works out cheaper to book the entire journey in J (for some reason). EK are doing you a favour.
