I am trying to book on flights 412 or 418 DXB to SYD. Expertflyer shows that seats on 412 are available only on Y and 418 has no seats at all in economy. Does anyone have a way of knowing if the airline is really fully booked or is it just not selling seats.

For when are you trying to book? In my experience they often block lower classes and open up closer to the date of departure. But if it's only a couple of days out, the flights are probably actually oversold. Otherwise, there's some availability due to changes.

I am trying to fly out a month from now. Its out on 3rd Feb. I am trying to figure out if the airline is actually blocking the seats.

That time of the year. Availability is scarce, harder on the 418 flight. Usually a couple of weeks out are a good indication. Best advise is to call EK and ask for specific fare buckets availability.

I was checking the availability for EK412 for 7th Jan (when I am booked) and a few days ago it was showing nothing available in Y and now it's showing availability, so probably best to just contact EK direct.

But EK will tell you the same thing EF shows as regular agents wouldn't be able to differentiate full flight from inventory blocked.
