IAH-DXB-BLR
How is the service (recently) btw IAH-DXB + DXB-BLR? I have a trip with EK in Sept. Flying economy \ 1st time flyer with EK.
|
It's not the service I'd be worried about... good luck spending 14 hours in that 10-across Y seat. ;)
|
Get an emex or bulkhead seat. I spent 9 hours in a non-bulkhead seat after perhaps a year and realized how bad they are.
|
Thanks...I've made two previous trips to Bangalore..all economy. 1st time was BA (great); 2nd time was CO (so-so). Anyone know how full the flights between IAH-DXB are? I'm told flights from DXB-BLR are almost always full.
|
IAH-DXB can be unpredictable. Weekend flights loads are pretty full. Weekdays can also be quite high.
CO and BA both have 9-across seating in economy. EK has 10-across, which means the seats are thinner. I haven't flown EK in economy for a few years now, but the thought of that 10-across cabin on a 15 hour flight makes me shudder. |

And I see Etihad have started to introduce them as well. |

This gets mentioned a lot with Emirates as a disadvantage for pax in Y but the seats are only 0.5 inches narrower than BA. Considering most people will go for a exit row seat which has narrower than standard due to the tray table, surely the "narrow seats because its 10 across" issue is not an issue at all, except in the mind?
And I see Etihad have started to introduce them as well. Also, AA 777s are 9-abreast in Y while some AF 777s are 10-abreast. I've been on both, and let me tell you that I would MUCH rather be on the AA plane. |
Though isn't it about the same seat width as on a 747? Not such a big deal then, I guess? even the A330s have a similar seat width, don't they?
As far as Etihad goes, I believe they are only introducing it on aircraft that fly to low yield destinations, not long haul premium destinations. |
I don't think there's an armrest in any Economy Class that has sufficient room for two arms!

Current Passenger Load
Is there a way to see what the current passenger load might be? I know you can manage YOUR flight and see which seats are taken; however, if I wanted to see how full this flight was for - lets say yesterday or today - is there a way to see this information?
I know with CO, I would attempt to book a flight and in the process I would be allowed to pick my seat. I have not seen that option on EK's website \ online booking. |
