2 Tickets bought and only one results in Points?

I flew to NRT with a friend in march this year.

I bought both tickets over my credit card and yet when I claimed my points/miles I only received miles for my personal ticket and not my friends ticket.

Is that right? I mean, they could clearly see that both tickets where billed to my cc and so I generated 1400€ in revenue (I know, not exactly a fortune) and still they only gave me points for my 700€ tickets.
That just seems weird.

Do they really only "send" the miles for one's personal ticket?
Or have I been misinformed by the staff?

And how could one get all the miles?
Would it be possible for that friend to open a Skywards account for her and then to transfer those points to me?
Seeing that it's been in march (return end of april) it's probably already to late this time.

You can only get the full miles for your own ticket. If you had a household account and your friend registered to that you would have got 20% of the miles for his ticket.

If he had a skywards account he cannot transfer the miles.

Miles are earned when the person flies the particular flight.. IMO, it does not matter who pays for the flights but it matters whether the person took the flight or not..In a ideal situation, the person travelling will have a FF account with the airline or its alliance and will get the credit for the flights once he has taken them.. Many alliances allow household accounts where u can get some credit for flights taken by others of the same household.. IN EK u get 20% of the miles of the other person flying.. Some others like M&M also hv similiar polices for MEA..
But I am not aware of any alliance or FFP where miles credit is given just on the basis of who made the payment..

Best to get your friend to open an account and then when required, get them to buy you a reward/upgrade ticket with their miles (they can also purchase extra miles if needed upto 25k per year).

This won't work I'm afraid. Miles can only be claimed by a new member for up to two months before their joining date. If they already had an account it would be six months but that doesn't sound like the case here.
