London Limos
 

I have been in Several EK LHR limos... and have chatted with them. Its Run by a company called "TRISTAR". Whats interesting is that they serve a whole set of customers themselves. He mentioned they serve Virgin Upper Class, Jet Airways and ofcourse the investment banking community.

So it is possible to get a slightly more premium car. No complains about Dubai's Volvo, but it is possible to pick up a notch.

Did GRU EWR on Continental in 2008 before DXB GRU was flying. Arrived EWR ( Newark ) at 5am on Continental. Chauffeur at 6am from airport. Waited ... Waited till 6:30. Called EK INDIA. Response "we sent an email to your address stating we dont pick up at airports".

So they do mess up once in a while... and i tried to complain - got NOTHING. Not even $60 for the taxi. Basically if i walked to a nearby hotel and called the limo there, that would be allowed. But no Airport transfers.

Otherwise been fairly happy with the limos...

If they dont pick up at airports, then how do they provide the service? :confused::D

All reservations made through EK INDIA and have been picked up at EMA, and driven to BHZ: LGW (off a none EK flight) and taken to LHR: STN and taken to LGW etc etc etc

Yes - Strange !!!! First she told me "no inter terminal pick ups". I told her i am 50 miles away from JFK and not nearby JFK. Then she said : They dont pick up at Newark or La Gaurdia for an outbound flight out of JFK. I learnt it the hard way.

As i said - overall no issues... this one has been a sticking point for me.

First time I'm here using the service at my US address (normally on 9W but trying out the EK 204 - EK 572 connection to CCU this time), and I really really hope they don't gripe about my house being 62.3 miles away from JFK, and not the requisite 60 that they claim. But then again, how do they even determine the distance? Google Maps says it can be 59.3 miles for using I-78, ranging to 81.4 miles using I-95...

Anyways, the service provider here is called Boston Coach. 1-800-672-7676, for anyone who ever may need to contact them...

My thoughts are:

very satisfied with the service in general. I do however share some views with other members.

1) Water at DXB would be very nice indeed
2) Pick up times are not so bad, you do have the option of scheduling the PU anytime u want by calling CS but then EK is not responsible if you miss ur flight (fare enough).
3) whilst the Volvo may not be up to scratch for some of you spoiled people and yes in Germany and UK you do get nicer German cars, they are however not consistent. In DXB you know what u get every time.

4) I agree with the confirmations, I book my cars on MMB and the driver does show up every time in DXB and destination. I would however really like a confirmation call, cause you never really know if they will show up or not. They just turn up outside the house door (albeit earlier than requested).

5) the 15-minute cutoff. I am not one to keep them waiting, and I know its not fare but one off cases warrant a delay and they should be accommodating and not remove your bags from the boot and drive off cause you came out after 20 mins !!

6) The logos on the side do offer them a lot of branding / advertising. The navy volvo estate is an icon in Dubai now. I saw somebody driving a private one the other day and wondered why would you pick that colour ! its like buying a beige camry !!

7) last but not least, I would like the range extended in some destinations as in big cities the airport is usually way out of town (just an idea although I know the OP said DXB only).
